Welcome to the Thousand Islands Area
A warm welcome from the Tour Trends guide and a welcome reception awaits your group’s arrival in Kingston. This St. Lawrence Seaway area actually contains closer to 2000 islands. Enjoy a get-acquainted dinner this evening.
Fort Henry & Kingston
Visit historic Fort Henry with its collection of 19th century military artifacts. The highlight at the Fort is a performance by the internationally renowned Fort Henry Guard, a precision drill team with fife and drums. This afternoon, experience a guided tour of Kingston, known as the “Limestone City” because of the abundance of historic architecture constructed of this distinctive stone. Its harbor location was once of strategic military importance and now makes Kingston attractive for recreational boating. The tour includes such sites as the Queen’s University, Royal Military College of Canada, Saint George’s and Saint Mary’s Cathedrals and many mansions.
Gananoque & Thousand Islands Cruise
Enjoy a scenic cruise of the Thousand Islands with a stopover at romantic Boldt Castle on Heart Island, the never completed 120-room summer mansion of a wealthy New Yorker. Built by George C. Boldt, owner of New York City’s famous Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, he planned this castle for his wife, Louise. When she suddenly died in 1904, all work was stopped. A guided tour of the Gananoque area completes the day. This evening, attend a performance at the Thousand Islands Playhouse after dinner.
Depart for Home
Leave the Thousand Islands Discovery Tour with a thousand memories to cherish.
Optional Ottawa Day
Depart for the beautiful Capitol City of Canada – Ottawa.
Enjoy a guided tour of this cosmopolitan city with a British flavor, even to a Changing of the Guard tradition. Parks and flower gardens dot the City, and the Canal is lined with bicycle paths and becomes a skating pond in the winter. The tour includes a visit to Parliament, views from Parliament Hill, admission to the Canadian Museum of Civilization, and a visit to Canada’s oldest pedestrian mall with all its charming cafes and shops.
