Montreal & Quebec

Day One MONTREAL

We arrive today in the Cosmopolitan city of Montreal. After checking into our hotel, we’ll have time to visit the Underground City with its myriad shops and restaurants and is within walking distance to the hotel. Dinner tonight is at one of the area’s fine restaurants.

Day Two   MONTREAL & QUEBEC

Today we check out of the hotel and meet our local Guide for a Tour of the city including the Old City, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Olympic Park and Mount Royale Park where we’ll have a picnic lunch near the lake. Following Lunch we’ll travel to Quebec. Bordered on the south by the St.Lawrence River, Quebec City has more than half a million residents, primarily French speaking. Quebec’s earliest population included Native Americans, as well as settlers from France and England. This probably explains why “les Quebecois” are so warm and welcoming.  We’ll check into our hotel located in the heart of the Old Town. We’ll have Dinner this evening in the Old City.

Day Three    THE BEAUPRE COAST

After breakfast this morning we’ll have more free time in the Old City. (leave at 11:00AM) Then we’ll depart with our local Guide for the Beaupre Coast. We’ll have lunch on our own in the town of Beaupre before visiting  the shrine, the Basilica of Sainte Anne de Beaupre, a major Roman Catholic place of pilgrimage with the only copy of Michelangelo‘s Pietà (the original is in the Vatican City). The basilica is also known as a place of miracles. We’ll also visit the Copper Arts Museum of master craftsman Albert Gilles where we’ll discover the ancestral art of copper embossing. Some of his works are on the doors of the basilica. The tour continues along the Saint Lawrence River to the spectacular Montmorency Falls, which are higher than Niagara.  We’ll have Dinner at the Falls before returning to our hotel.

Day Four   QUEBEC CITY TOUR AND MONTREAL

This morning after breakfast we’ll tour the Old City. Highlights include The National Assembly, La Place d’Armes, The Governor’s Promenade, The Latin Quarter, Notre Dame des Victoires, the Citadel and Place Royal. After Lunch on our own in the old city we’ll return once again to Montreal and check back into our hotel.  Later we’ll go the Place Jacques Cartier where we can explore on our own the many restaurants this area has to offer.

Day Five   DEPART FOR HOME

After a tasty breakfast, we depart for home with wonderful memories of our Canadian Experience
